Brazza was buried at the Père Lachaise cemetery. Upset by the ‘politicians’ behaviour toward her husband, Thérèse de Chambrun who refused Brazza’s burial in the Panthéon decided to have his body transferred to Algiers.

 « Since his warnings are not taking into account, he who devoted himself at the risk of his life, I prefer bringing his remains to Mustapha cemetery  on the African soil, at the gate of this black continent to which he devoted his soul, and besides we are African people, it was in Africa where we spent our happy years ».

He was buried there on the 22nd of December 1908.
